MPACT Announces New Pay-for-Skills Workshop
The MPACT Learning Center announces a one-day workshop designed to assist companies in developing a comprehensive plan to establish a pay-for-skills [PFS]program for its maintenance or production workers.

Numerous companies have approached us with interest in developing a pay-for-skills program. They recognize the value of rewarding competence as opposed to simply rewarding longevity - providing incentives to workers who improve their skills, becoming more valuable employees who improve their company's operations. And they recognize our extensive experience with a successful PFS program.

But there are many policy and practical issues to be dealt with in establishing such a program, and we are aware of companies that have wrestled with such issues for many months.

This is a workshop, not a seminar. It is designed to allow you to work through these issues, and learn how to sell the PFS concept to the workers and to management. We recommend that companies send a team: the manager of the employees being considered for PFS, the HR/Personnel Manager, the Training Manager, and an executive level individual with approval authority, so all are on the same page. In addition to learning about the components of a PFS program, in-depth discussions will be held on issues where there are options with pros and cons. Participants will have frequent breakout sessions to discuss such issues and develop a CUSTOM action plan for their operation.

The PFS workshop will be held on September 22, 2004, from 9:00 am until 5:00 PM at the MPACT Learning Center, 2 Centerview Drive, Greensboro, NC. Lunch will be provided. For directions, see our web site:

The cost of the workshop is only $325 per person. Attendees will receive a complete workshop manual and a CD with PFS case study materials, workshop slides, and sample introductory video, and will develop initial PFS action steps and how to avoid pitfalls. You may enroll online at
