Have
you gotten your fair share? On
September 1, the NC General Assembly distributed
$4,000,000 to help NC industry develop their
workforce through FIT Funds. You may want to
contact your local FIT Coordinator ASAP to make
sure you get your company's fair share. Also
your coordinator can help you apply for up to
$50,000 per company in incumbent workforce
development training funds from the state. Call

Workshop, September 22 - Reward compentency not
just longevity: Understand the policy and
practical issues of setting up a pay-for-skills
program for your maintenance or production
workers. Leave with a CUSTOM action plan for
your operation.

headcount. Network with peers from other
companies. Jerry Hagen, 2003 President of the

this important process and can apply it as soon
as they return to their facility, reducing the
time required to solve problems, thereby
reducing downtime. The course will pay for

Mathematics, November 16 – 19: Enables
technicians to better understand the mathematics
required while working in an industrial or
facilities environment. Excellent course for
those who need to refresh their math skills
prior to taking other MPACT courses.

Racing: A Model for Equipment Reliability &
Teamwork - Look behind the scene in NASCAR
racing to find the secrets of equipment
reliability and teamwork. NASCAR's world-class
stock car racing business, the Nextel/Winston
Cup series, provides an easy to understand model
for world-class manufacturing, equipment
maintenance and reliability. The presenter,
Robert Williamson, of Strategic Work Systems,
Inc., spent nearly 10 years studying the
relationship of NASCAR Winston Cup racing to
improvements in manufacturing and maintenance.
This will be in December – we’ll announce the
date soon.
