Boilers: Basics and Beyond
Having unqualified people around any combustion equipment is dangerous. Having unqualified people around boilers Is double trouble. How do you know who Is safe? What standard do you apply to the people in your plant? Do you really think a generic test from an arcane code will really apply to your plant? Maybe it will, maybe it won’t.

ASME sets the standard for boiler construction, operation, and repair. Which of the sections apply to your boiler room? Section I, IV, VI, VII? Do you know about CSD-1-2004? You will after this seminar. This section dictates which controls are used on boilers under 12,500,000 Btu/hr input. What about the controls on the bigger boilers? That is where NFPA comes in. This seminar won't bore you with reading the code. We make certain you understand how to use the codes for your own safety. When the plant is as safe as possible, then you're ready to tackle efficiency. Don't worry about trying to remember it all, no one can. The textbook you receive will have working reference versions to the code. Just for attending the seminar you will receive the acclaimed video "No Gas…No BOOM!" This outstanding video explains the basics of how to start a boiler.

The seminar will cover the following topics: Boilers: Fired Pressure Vessels; Burner Basics; Controls and Safety Devices; Primary Controls; Full Programming Controls; Troubleshooting; Flame Sensors; Series 90 Modulation; Gas Valve Train Assemblies; Steam Systems; Hot Water Systems; Care and Operation; Fundamentals of Combustion; Strategics In Tuning; Increasing Efficiency.

The seminar has been designed and is led by David Plantier. Mr. Plantier has established himself and his training In many different areas. 'Boilers Ain't Mysterious' and "Boilers: Basics and Beyond' have been conducted across the country for over 20 years. The widespread acceptance of these seminars is evidence of the superior and unique qualities of the program. Cost per Student: $595; $545 each for two or more from same facility.
Pay-for-Skills Workshop
Understand the policy and practical issues of setting up a pay-for-skills program for your maintenance or production workers. Leave with a CUSTOM action plan for your operation.

Numerous companies have approached us with interest in developing a pay-for-skills program because of our extensive experience with it. They recognize the value of rewarding competence as opposed to simply rewarding longevity - of providing incentives to workers who improve their skills, becoming more valuable employees who improve their company's operations.

There are many policy and practical issues to be dealt with in establishing such a program, and we are aware of companies that have wrestled with such issues for many months.

This is a workshop, not a seminar. It is designed to allow you to work through these issues. We recommend that companies send a team: the manager of the employees being considered for pay-for-skills, the HR/Personnel Manager, the Training Manager, and an executive level individual with approval authority. In addition to learning about the components of a pay-for-skills program, in-depth discussions will be held on issues where there are options with pros and cons. Participants will have frequent breakout sessions to discuss such issues and develop a CUSTOM action plan for their operation. Cost per Student: $325
Systematic Troubleshooting
Students learn this important process and can apply it as soon as they return to their facility, reducing the time required to solve problems, thereby reducing downtime. The course will pay for itself in a matter of weeks.

This unique course is designed for people who spend much of their time solving problems, such as maintenance and work-team employees. The course gives individuals the skills to solve and prevent problems consistently and effectively, and far faster than the “shotgun” approach. The course focuses on case studies to give students multiple opportunities to hone their skills. It is recommended that this course be included early in any curriculum so employees can combine these troubleshooting techniques with their technical skills as they are developed to logically solve problems. Cost per Student: $950
