Customers Request Addition of Two Classes
We do our best to respond to YOUR needs. So when two different customers requested that two different classes be added in December, we were able to accomodate them.
Pete Little Maintenance Management, December 14 - 17
Learn how to double the productivity of the "typical" maintenance department while cutting downtime on critical equipment in half.

If that sounds impossible to you, you're like many others who thought the same, but later accomplished just that. If your maintenance organization is better than "typical", chances are you can still make substantial improvements by following the advice of Pete Little, a registered professional engineer who has set up, evaluated, and improved the Maintenance Management programs in almost 200 plants in the paper, chemical, food, fertilizer, and textile industries.

A hallmark of this class is that it is very practical, designed so that you can build your own excellent maintenance department, all the way to world class if you stick with the program.

The topics covered include: evaluating maintenance organizational options for different plants, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM); establishing and operating a manual or computerized work order system; determining realistic priorities when everything must be done "right now"; properly utilizing critical work order codes; planning jobs and controlling materials for maintenance work orders; using the work order backlog to determine manpower requirements; dispatching craft personnel to emergency and non-emergency work orders; supervising maintenance craft personnel effectively; using the weekly schedule to drive toward better performance; establishing a practical preventive maintenance (PM) program; evaluating Predictive Maintenance (PdM) opportunities; understanding the importance of ownership; and taking advantage of downtime.

This course is appropriate for plant engineers, maintenance managers, maintenance engineers, maintenance supervisors, and maintenance planners, as well as production management personnel. A two-day condensed version, Maintenance Management for Manufacturing Managers, is available for managers who do not directly oversee the maintenance function.

Cost per Student: $1075
See-thru Components Hydraulics, December 6 - 10
Eliminate common misconceptions about hydraulics, thus reducing costly troubleshooting errors. Empower the technician with the knowledge necessary to maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic systems.

Emphasis is placed in two specific areas of this frequently misunderstood subject. The first part of the course covers the theory of hydraulics and topics such as Pascal’s Law, pressure drop, the force-pressure-area relationship, fluid flow (flow rate and velocity), and hydraulic horsepower. Mathematical formulas relative to hydraulic theory will be studied.

The second part of this course deals with individual circuit components, their operating principles, and how each component interacts with others within the system. Lab exercises are used to validate hydraulic theories and component characteristics. Hands-on circuit construction begins with hydraulic schematic readings and cannot be considered complete until the circuit operates correctly. Troubleshooting skills are developed on a continuing basis. Components studied include pumps, pressure relief valves, flow control valves, directional control valves, cylinders, and motors.

Prerequisites: Basic Math Skills and Basic Mechanical Aptitude.

Lab Equipment: Hydraulic trainers develop 550-psi working pressure and allow students to build hydraulic circuits with quick-disconnect fittings using standard components (valves, cylinders, etc.) Additionally, see-thru, fully-functional components help the students really UNDERSTAND what goes on ina hydraulic system.

Cost per Student: $1250
MPACT Learning Center Where and When?
Like most of our classes, Maintenance Management and Hydraulics start at 10:00 AM on the first day and 8:00 or 8:30 on subsequent days. Classes end around 4:00 PM every day except the last, which ends around noon. See our web site for detailed directions to the Learning Center. http://www.mpactlearning.com/
