Return on Investment
Maintenance is about cost avoidance, and it is very difficult to prove what didn't fail. That said, one plant formed a team of industrial engineers and accountants to track the costs and savings when instituting a pay-for-skills program using MPACT®. The plant had 40 maintenance personnel, and documented $150,000 net annual savings. Although we don't have figures for all of our customers, many report reduced production equipment downtime the biggest potential for cost reduction.
One of the greatest testimonial to the value of MPACT is this: in spite of a steadily declining domestic textile market in the 1990's, Burlington Industries, the company which started the MPACT program, retained MPACT while the company shrank by 90%. The Corporate Engineering Department, which MPACT was part of, went from 100 employees to 13 yet kept the four MPACT employees, stating “We can't afford not to have MPACT.” Even after their Chapter 11, when Burlington asked Pete Little to take MPACT private, Burlington remains MPACT's biggest single customer.
